Great Recipes For Your Pets

Ingredients

1 lb ground turkey

1 egg

3/4 cup rolled oats

1/4 cup 2 percent milk

3 oz tomato sauce

1 tbsp chopped parsley

1 garlic clove, minced

2 tbsps canine supplement*

Pavlov's Meat Loaf
You'll Have 'em Droolin' for More!

Directions
Combine all ingredients. Mix well. Pack into 4 small loaf pans. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Makes 4 small loaves.

Note
One loaf will feed a 25-pound dog and is equal to one-half can of dog food. For normal-sized dogs, this would be considered a dog treat, not dinner.

*Powdered canine supplements are available at most natural pet food stores.

Ingredients

1 sm carrot, peeled and grated

1/4 cup peeled, grated zucchini

1/2 cup chopped alfalfa sprouts

1 tsp chopped fresh parsley

1/8 cup chicken stock

1/4 tsp dried or fresh catnip*

"Better Than Crab Grass" Salad

Directions
Combine vegetables in medium bow. Add chicken stock and toss. Sprinkle with catnip and serve at room temperature. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3 days. Makes 1-2 cups.

Note
This recipe is from the Old Farmer's Almanac. It adds needed fiber to a cat's mostly meat diet, and it's one more way to get rid of that pesky glut of summer zucchini!

*Catnip is optional, but it's guaranteed to get your cat to eat this stuff.

Note
Seafood fork and crystal feeding dish are optional, but your cat will appreciate it. *Blender can be substituted for Cuisinart™.

"Woof 'em Down" Doggie Cookies

Directions
Combine all dry ingredients. In a small bowl, mix together stock and oil. Gradually add to dry ingredients, stirring until all ingredients are mixed well. Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead well. Roll out dough to 1/8-inch thick and cut into cookies with a bone-shaped cookie cutter.*

Bake 15-20 minutes at 400 degrees. Turn off the heat and allow the biscuits to harden in the oven for several hours. Cover and store biscuits in the refrigerator. Makes 24-36 biscuits, depending on size of cookie cutter.

Note
*Dog's don't really care if you use a bone-shaped cutter, or not.
